Dunga ponders Ronaldinho's place in Brazil team
AC Milan's Ronaldinho controls the ball during the match against Real Madrid in their Champions League soccer match at San Siro stadium in Milan November 3, 2009.
RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 8 -- The head coach of the Brazilian national soccer team, Dunga, discussed on Sunday the roster spot for Ronaldinho Gaucho in the 2010 World Cup.
According to Dunga, the only thing holding the player back is himself, in which Dunga claimed the lack of team play and the focus on individual play has hindered the Ronaldinho's performance and status in the national team.
"He is an individual player. It depends on him. I want to be able to count on the best players available. Our team has evolved from being focused on the technical aspects and now is focused on competitiveness and commitment," said Dunga.
Dunga said he had no favoritism for anyone. In order to have success, he requires the autonomy to decide when to substitute players, when to take risks and how to manage his team.
Dunga, the team captain of Brazil's third World Cup title in 1994, announced on Sunday that he intends to leave his position as head coach once the 2010 World Cup in South Africa is over.
Ronaldinho now is playing for Italian Serie A side AC Milan, who is widely regarded as one of the most gifted player of his generation.
Prior to his move to Milan, he played for French Ligue 1 PSG, Spanish giants Barcelona, with whom he won his first Champions League in 2006.
