Serbian champions shave heads to celebrate Davis Cup victory

BELGRADE - The world champion Serbian Davis Cup team has a new look on Sunday.

When the celebrations died down on Sunday after Viktor Troicki' s crushing victory over Michael Llodra 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 before 17,000 jubilant fans at Belgrade Arena, the team lined up for a collective haircut.

Serbian team members and officials followed through with their promise to shave their heads if they emerged Davis Cup world champions.

The head-shaving began in the Belgrade Arena with the president of the Tennis Association of Serbia Slobodan Zivojinovic, whose new look was broadcast on state-run Radio Television Serbia (RTS). Zivojinovic was followed by Serbia's top tennis player, Novak Djokovic, and then the remainder of the team.

After the shaving, Zivojinovic said that he was "bald and happy" with the outcome.

"Serbia is the world champion," he said. "I really have no words, I am proud because they (Serbia's Davis Cup team) gave us the greatest pleasure a man can experience."

Zivojinovic also said the victory was also shared with the tennis fans whose support of the team contributed to the "unbelievable atmosphere" in the Belgrade Arena.
