Edward Dawkins lands men's sprint gold at UCI cycling World Cup

BEIJING, Jan. 24 -- Edward Dawkins of New Zealand defeated Michael D'almeida of France to take the men's individual sprint gold at the Beijing stop of the UCI track cycling World Cup here on Sunday.

Dawkins claimed the title with two straight wins against D'almeida in the best-of-three final thanks to his strong dash ability.

D'almeida settled with the silver and Francois Pervis, another French rider from the professional team Cofidis, beat his teammate Maximillian Levy to take the bronze.
