Cristiano Ronaldo aims for even better things in 2010

MADRID, Dec. 20 -- Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo played his part in Real Madrid’s 6-0 win against a hapless Zaragoza and then promised things would get even better in the New Year.

Gonzalo Higuain and Rafael van der Vaart both netted twice as Madrid brushed past a weak rival and Cristiano Ronaldo also found the back of the net.

Speaking to the Real Madrid website on Sunday, he then said next year things would get even better.

"There is no better way to say goodbye to 2009 than with a win and with the team playing well and it is important to score six goals."

"We are all happy and now we have to think about next year. I hope 2010 is going to be even better than this year," said Ronaldo.

Real Madrid won the game without the injured duo of Pepe and Kaka, but Ronaldo saw that as a proof of the depth of talent available to his team.

"This win shows that we are playing well and that we have got a great squad. We didn't need the players who were injured because those who played did really well and showed the coach that they are worthy."

"On a personal level, I am feeling better all the time, things are going well and I have scored important goals. I want to carry on like that," he concluded.

Saturday's other games saw Athletic Club Bilbao continue its excellent season with a 2-0 win at home to Osasuna while Sevilla surprisingly lost 2-1 at home to Osasuna.
