Ghana in U20 World Cup quarterfinals

CAIRO, Oct. 6 -- Ghana overcame South Africa 2-1 on Tuesday to reach the
quarterfinals of FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The first halftime ended with a goalless draw despite efforts from both sides.

Then South Africa scored first when its forward Kermit Erasmus succeeded to
score at the 60th minute of the match.
However, Ghana tried hard to equalize until its midfielder Andre Ayew scored the
first goal for his team about ten minutes later.
The second halftime ended when the result was 1-1, so the referee gave two
periods of extra time.
At the first extra time, at the 99th minute of the match, Dominic Adiyiah,
forward of Ghana succeeded to score the second goal for his team through a
powerful shot.
The match witnessed eleven yellow cards and one red card. South Africa was
yellow carded five times while Ghana was yellow carded six times and red carded
once.
