London Olympics organisers make transport pledge
Organisers of the London Olympics have vowed to avoid the farcical transport problems seen in Atlanta in 1996 after taking advice from senior Government figures involved in the chaotic games 12 years ago. Some athletes even missed their events and had to return home as a result of the severe problems that occurred during Atlanta’s hosting of the games, caused by a lack of planning, confusing road maps and the hiring of coach drivers completely unfamiliar with the city.
