DPRK top leader watches football match
PYONGYANG, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), watched a football match between two military teams, the official Rodong Sinmun daily said on Sunday.The Rodong Sinmun reported Kim's recent appearance with a picture of Kim joyfully watching the game in a watching room accompanied by senior officers and officials on its front page.
The football match, held between the Mangyongbong and Jebi teams of the DPRK army, was a closing game of the 11th People's Sports Contest, which was held from Oct. 17 to 31.
After watching the match, Kim Jong Il congratulated the football players and praised them for playing a high-level game.
He emphasized the importance of developing the sports cause in augmenting the might of the country and boosting the friendly relations with various countries of the world, the report said.
The Mangyongbong Team defeated the Jebi team 3:1.
