LISBON, Nov. 17 -- On the game of the Iberian bid for the 2018-2022 FIFA World Cup, Portugal beat Spain 4-0 on Wednesday, handing the World Cup and European Champions a historical loss against the Portuguese.

The best player was Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing in Spain's Real Madrid.

The first goal came in the 44th minute. Carlos Martins recovered the ball in the midfield and passed to Ronaldo who made a magic dribble for a spot to shoot. Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas palmed away but the rebound was connected by Martins who netted with ease.

In the 48th minute, Portugal scored in their first attack into the second half as Helder Postiga found the net on an acrobatic touch with his heel.

Portuguese team efforts paid off in the 67th minute when Danny took the ball for 40 meters in the left wing, passed to Moutinho in the box who put the ball for Helder Postiga's second goal.

Two minutes later, all the Spanish players were in the attacking spots, Hugo Almeida received a long pass and having only the Spanish goalkeeper in front of him scored the fourth goal.
