Seven wounded in grenade attack near Ukraine capital station

KIEV, March 11 -- An unidentified attacker on Wednesday threw a grenade through the window of an office near Kiev's main railway station, wounding seven people, police said.

The attack took place at about 12.30 p.m. local time (1030 GMT), the Interfax-Ukraine news agency cited sources in the interior ministry.

The target, a branch office Ukraine's Sanitation and Epidemic Inspectorate near the Kiev central train station, was damaged with windows broken.

The victims all received injuries "of various degrees" from metal fragment and were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

Witnesses said the unidentified attacker hurled a grenade from a car passing the office.

Policemen were at the scene for investigation.

Kiev's last grenade attack came in April, after a explosive device hidden in a trash bin detonated in the central Shevchenko park, hospitalizing two persons.
