BERLIN, Dec.8 (Xinhua) -- The race between Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich and runners-up Werder Bremen for the half-way title continues following poor performance of the two teams on Saturday. Powerful Bayern were held 0-0 at home by Duisburg, which are in the relegation zone, missing out on securing the "half-way title" with a game to spare.
Meanwhile, Bremen, which were lagged behind Bayern by merely one point, missed their precious chance to overtake Bayern as they were defeated 4-3 in Hannover.
Now Bayern boast 35 points, while Bremen have 33 points.
As there is only one match left before the winter break, the holders of the half-way title will be know till the last round which is due on Dec.14-16.
Despite still staying on top of the Bundesliga table, Bayern simply didn't find a way through against ten-man Duisburg on Saturday, though goalkeeper Oliver Kahn with his 200th clean sheet in the Bundesliga.
Duisburg, however, celebrated their first point away to Bayern after more than twelve years.
The feat was achieved with ten man after Mohamadou Idrissou wassent off for violent conduct nine minutes from time.
Idrissou had Duisburg's best chance just two minutes into the match when his volley was kept out by Kahn.
Defenders Martin Demichelis and Daniel van Buyten had Bayern's best first-half chances from set-pieces. French international Franck Ribery was denied twice by Duisburg goalkeeper Tom Starke.
Bremen and Hannover 96 staged a thrilling seven-goal match on Saturday.
German international Mike Hanke scored a hat-trick to give Hannover their first home win over Werder in 35 years.
Hanke netted after 12, 21 and 77 minutes of Hanover's 4-3 victory, Werder's Frank Baumann added an own goal in the 20th minute.
Markus Rosenberg bagged a brace for Werder in the tenth and 54th minute, while striker Diego scored from the penalty spot in the 41st minute, but it wasn't enough to keep Werder's unbeaten run of ten matches going.
Hamburg, which took the third place in the Bundesliga table, also lost their competition for the half-way title as they were held 0-0 by Bundesliga bottom team Energie Cottbus.
The goalless draw means that Hamburg still stay third and Cottbus at the bottom of the table.
For other games on Saturday, Bundesliga champions VfB Stuttgartbeat VfL Wolfsburg 3-1, VfL Bochum tied Karlsruher SC 2-2 and the match between Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Schalke 04 also ended up with 2-2.
